Welcome to New York. Brezina Katalin. Statue of Liberty. There are lot of things to see in New York. One of them is the Statue of Liberty – symbol of freedom. This statue is on the Liberty Island and the French people gave it to the American people in 1886.

  2. Statue of Liberty • There are lot of things to see in New York. One of them is the Statue of Liberty – symbol of freedom. • This statue is on the Liberty Island and the French people gave it to the American people in 1886. • You can walk up 354 stairs to get to the top of the statue. • There is a museum on Liberty Island, at the foot of the statue.

  3. Boroughs of New York: • The city has 10,000 kilometres of streets, and more than 7 million people live here. • Boroughs: • Manhattan: an island 21,5 kilometres long and 3,7 kilometres wide • Brooklyn • The Bronx • Queens • Staten Island

  4. The Empire State Building • The city is full of scyscrapers. Many of them are not very beautiful, but you can see for many kilometres from the top. • Between 1931 and 1970 it was the highest building in the world. It has 102 floors, is 448 metres high and you can see 120 km from the top.

  5. Entertainment • Go to the theatre, ballet, Disneyland… You can do something different every night of the week. • Most of the theatres are in the streets near Times Square and on Broadway. There are more than thirty theatres on Broadway. • A popular place for the children is Disneyland.

  6. Some visitors find that New Yorkers are not very friendly. Remember, that New York can be very hot in the middle of summer and very cold in the middle of winter. The city is always changing. It is the most exciting city in the world. Perhaps New York is dangerous, but so are many big cities Remember: Do not carry a lot of money with you. Do not travel on the subway alone at night. Stay with the crowds late at night. Go into the nearest hotel of shop if you suddenly fell afraid. Do not forget:
