  2. Victor Vasarely Vásárhelyi Győző néven született Pécsett. A középiskola elvégzése után orvosnak tanult. Az anatómialeckék hatására ébredt fel benne az alkotói ösztön. 1930-ban Párizsba utazott egy reklámplakát-pályázaton elnyert díjból. Itt alkotott s vált egyre elismertebbé. Festészetének ekkor vált fontos elemévé a mozgás, a kinetika képi megalkotásának és a geometrikus formáknak az összeházasítása. Leghíresebb munkáit a Fekete-fehér-, a Kristály- és a Vonal-korszakaiban alkotta.
