  2. Oligarchy • Power is held by a small group of people, usually royalty or the extremely wealthy.

  3. Confederation • Group of independent states that sometimes come together to accomplish a common goal.

  4. Parliamentary • The Legislative (Law-Making) branch and Executive (Law-Enforcing) branch are the same.

  5. Federal • Power divided between a Central (Federal) Government and Local (State) Government.

  6. Representative Democracy • People elect politicians to represent their needs/views in the government.

  7. Direct Democracy • People have total control over law-making and law-enforcement.

  8. Unitary • Power held by a single central authority, typically a national government.

  9. Autocracy • A single ruler controls everything, including the military.

  10. Presidential • Legislative and Executive branches are separate.
