What Is Cheerleading Cheerleading is a sport that uses organized routines that usually range from 1 minute to 3 minutes made from elements of tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers, and stunting to direct spectators of events to cheer on sports teams at games and matches and/or compete at cheerleading competitions

Who Invented Cheerleading Cheerleading, as we know it today, was initiated in 1898 by Johnny Campbell, an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota, who stood before the crowd at a football game and directed them in a famous and still used yell. "Rah, Rah, Rah! Sku-u-mar, Hoo-Rah! Hoo-Rah! Varsity! Varsity! Varsity, Minn-e-So-Tah!". And so cheerleading officially began on November 2, 1898. Whether you are a cheerleader, a yell leader, (variations on the term "cheerleader"), or whether you are on an all female, an all male, or a combination male/female squad, you are striving towards one goal. That goal is to effectively lead a crowd in support of an athletic team and to generate spirit and pride within a school or community. Today cheerleading enjoys a reputation of being an important leadership force on practically every high school and college campus in America

  4. When Johnny started Cheering Johnny Campbell started cheer when he worded these words and directed a crowd in cheering "! Varsity! Varsity, Minn-e-So-Tah!”, making Campbell the very first cheerleader

  5. What is Cheering Made for Cheering is for exercising . Cheerleading is also when a basketball team or football team is not winning and is down cheerleaders can pump them up.

  6. How cheering is a sport Yes cheering is a sport. In the dictionary they recall sports as athletic activities. So that’s how I know cheering is a sport.

Interesting Facts *The average cheerleading squad is a total of 18 people *The cheer capital f the U.S. is Texas *Common cheer leading injuries are broken arms and busted lips *80% of schools in the U.S have a cheer squad *cheer leading is over 100 years old *Back then when cheer leading first started,allcheerleaders were men *now 97% of cheerleaders are female *12% of cheerleaders are aged between age 5 and 13.
