  2. THE NAME OF THE TOWN \ CITY

  3. BAICOI, ROMANIA           Basarab I made reference in a charter given between 1324 - 1328, a Tartar prince, Baicu (possible name origin oiconimului Băicoi) Tatar hardelor transition at these places.

Jack Swilling - In 1867 Swilling built the first canal from the Salt River which was intended to reclaim four thousand acres of land.  This canal was completed in 1868, all the lands under it were located by settlers during the following years and quite a settlement was made in what is now the city of Phoenix (Phoenix means a bird in Egyptian mythology that lived in the desert for 500 years and then consumed itself by fire, later to rise renewed from its ashes) This name was given to the new settlement by Swilling.   5. Jeremiah Sullivan invented the name Indianapolis by joining Indiana with “polis,” Greek word for “city.” In 1814 George Rapp and 800 more people were looking for land that was affordable lands. INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA

  6. SKIDEL, BELARUS The city name occurs from the Lithuanian word "скид" (it means "board”,“protection”). Earlier Skidel represented a military outpost on approaches to Grodno.
