Welcome and Congratulations • You have been selected as a STUDY DISTRICT… and that’s a GOOD thing! • It means that you have data of concern, but you have demonstrated that you have a plan to address it and are already on your way to improving outcomes for student with disabilities. • We’d like to explore this a bit with you and ‘study’ your promising practices.

Welcome and Congratulations • We’ll assume that everyone has had an opportunity to review the training web-module at http://serc.info/fm1314 and has a sense of the overall process. • From this point, your state consultant team will join you in activities designed to generate thoughtful discussion around topics important to the success of your students with disabilities.

  4. Welcome and Congratulations • It’s a “walk and talk” that we’ll take together so let’s allow it to lead us in whatever direction proves useful to this group and your district. • Let’s talk a bit about what to expect today…

  5. Session 1 • Introductions • Review the data of concern • Review of district data wall • Review of additional areas you would like to discuss • Identify a Focus for Improvement • Review forms FM-8 and FM-9 We’ll break for lunch on our own from 11:30 AM-12:30PM and end no later than 3:00PM

  6. Who are we? • Before we go any further, let’s find out who is in the room today and what we each bring to the table…

  7. What is your Data of Concern? PLACE ALL DATA OF CONCERN HERE

  8. Tell us About Your District’s Data Wall • You did a great job on your Data Wall! Let’s take some time to hear from you about it…

  9. Do You Have Other Data of Concern? • You may have areas that we haven’t identified through Focused Monitoring, but you believe are of concern and negatively impacting the success of your students with disabilities… Let’s talk about them!

  10. Now We Need a Focus For Improvement • Yes, ALL data of concern are important, but we must narrow our focus for now if we are to get anything done… • What is the one area of focus that you feel will most positively impact your students with disabilities?…

Regarding YourFocus For Improvement • What supports/assistance do you need in order to improve in this area? • What supports/assistance are already available or in place (e.g., in-district? from the CSDE? from SERC? from other sources?) • What supports/assistance are needed but lacking (e.g., in-district? from the CSDE? from SERC? from other sources?)

  13. “Homework” • FM-8 District Self-Report This Self-Report summarizes the findings of the support and technical assistance activities conducted throughout the Focused Monitoring process.
