  1. Receive Answers from God and have a Victorious Life(Jehoshaphat, God and You)

  2. You might be sometimes wondering how God can answer your prayers. Or sometimes you might be asking yourself why it seems God is not answering your prayers. What should I know and should do for my prayers to be answered.

  3. How can I live and have a powerful and victorious christian life? How can I surpass all the trials that come to my life? How can I prosper in all that I do?

  4. Our story is about a king whose prayers were strongly granted by God. He reigned around 872- 848 before Christ. The kingdom of David was divided into two namely: Judah and Israel. Some of its kings ruled wickedly and others ruled uprightly and feared the LORD. King Jehoshaphat was the fourth king that reigned over Judah. God’s favor and God’s hand mightily manifested in his life and reign.

  5. JEHOSHAPHAT (Yahweh has judged) 2CH 17:1 Jehoshaphat his son then became king in his place, and made his position over Israel firm. 2CH 17:2 He placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had captured.

  6. The Acts of King Jehoshaphat and why God was with him. 1. Sought God and was Upright 2CH 17:3 The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David’s earlier days and did not seek the Baals, 2CH 17:4 but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did. 2CH 20:32 He walked in the way of his father Asa and did not depart from it, doing right in the sight of the LORD.

  7. 2CH 19:5 He appointed judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city. 2CH 19:6 He said to the judges, “Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the LORD who is with you when you render judgment. 2CH 19:7 “Now then let the fear of the LORD be upon you; be very careful what you do, for the LORD our God will have no part in unrighteousness or partiality or the taking of a bribe.” 2CH 19:9 Then he charged them saying, “Thus you shall do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully and wholeheartedly. 2CH 19:11 Act resolutely, and the LORD be with the upright.”

  8. 2. Proud of God’s ways 2CH 17:6 He took great pride in the ways of the LORD and again removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah. 3. Taught God’s words 2CH 17:9 They taught in Judah, having the book of the law of the LORD with them; and they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people. 2CH 19:4 So Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem and went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.

  9. 4. Trusted the LORD his Deliverer 2CH 18:31 So when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel,” and they turned aside to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him, and God diverted them from him. 2CH 20:1 Now it came about after this that the sons of Moab and the sons of Ammon, together with some of the Meunites, came to make war against Jehoshaphat. 2CH 20:2 Then some came and reported to Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, out of Aram and behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar (that is Engedi).”

  10. 2CH 20:3 Jehoshaphat was afraid and turned his attention to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 2CH 20:4 So Judah gathered together to seek help from the LORD; they even came from all the cities of Judah to seek the LORD. 5. Believed and Prayed Right 2CH 20:5 Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD before the new court, 2CH 20:6 and he said, “O LORD, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.

  11. 2CH 20:7 “Did You not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel and give it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever? 2CH 20:8 “They have lived in it, and have built You a sanctuary there for Your name, saying, 2CH 20:9 ‘ Should evil come upon us, the sword, or judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before You (for Your name is in this house) and cry to You in our distress, and You will hear and deliver us.’ 2CH 20:12 “O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” 2CH 20:13 All Judah was standing before the LORD, with their infants, their wives and their children.

  12. 6. Worshiped God 2CH 20:18 Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the LORD, worshiping the LORD. 2CH 20:19 The Levites, from the sons of the Kohathites and of the sons of the Korahites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel, with a very loud voice. CH 20:20 They rose early in the morning and went out to the wilderness of Tekoa; and when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, O Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, put your trust in the LORD your God and you will be established. Put your trust in His prophets and succeed.”

  13. 2CH 20:21 When he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who sang to the LORD and those who praised Him in holy attire, as they went out before the army and said, “ Give thanks to the LORD, for His lovingkindness is everlasting.” 7. The Lord hates being one with the wicked 2CH 19:1 Then Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem. 2CH 19:2 Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “ Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD and so bring wrath on yourself from the LORD?

  14. God’s Move in Jehoshaphat’s life 1. 2CH 17:5 So the LORD established the kingdom in his control, and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor. 2. 2CH 17:10 Now the dread of the LORD was on all the kingdoms of the lands which were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat. 3. 2CH 17:12 So Jehoshaphat grew greater and greater, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

  15. 4. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him, and God diverted them from him. 5. 2CH 20:15 and he said, “Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: thus says the LORD to you, ‘ Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s. 2CH 20:16 ‘Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the valley in front of the wilderness of Jeruel. 2CH 20:17 ‘You need not fight in this battle; station yourselves, stand and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out to face them, for the LORD is with you.”

  16. 6. 2CH 20:22 When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were routed. 2CH 20:23 For the sons of Ammon and Moab rose up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir destroying them completely; and when they had finished with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another. 2CH 20:24 When Judah came to the lookout of the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude, and behold, they were corpses lying on the ground, and no one had escaped.

  17. 2CH 20:25 When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their spoil, they found much among them, including goods, garments and valuable things which they took for themselves, more than they could carry. And they were three days taking the spoil because there was so much. 7. 2CH 20:29 And the dread of God was on all the kingdoms of the lands when they heard that the LORD had fought against the enemies of Israel. 2CH 20:30 So the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace, for his God gave him rest on all sides.
