  1. The Renaissance

  2. WHERE? Across the whole of Europe WHAT? The Renaissance was the shift that medieval people made from myth to reason- living byholy words to using logic. Every thing changed from cities and government to day to day life, people were questioning things, not letting themselves be controlled and living their own lives. WHEN? Roughly around the 14th to the 17th century.

  3. How was The Renaissance expressed in art? The Renaissance changed the way people looked at art by making it not all about religion, it became about style and even science. It also changed how paintings were created, there was areal perspective, chiaroscuro- the idea of shading to create a three dimensional illusion- and linear perspective. This all started by artists becoming very controversial and breaking free from the medieval rules of art. Botticelli Leonardo Da Vinci Michelangelo

  4. How was The Renaissance expressed in architecture? Architecture in the early 15th and 17th centuries was a development of Greek and Roman buildings and ideas, they advanced the urban world with great cities and built famous structures such as the Pazzi Chapel. LEON BATTISTA ALBERTI FILIPPO BRUNELLESCHI ANDREA PALLADIO

  5. How is the Renaissance connected to the modern world? Government: The Renaissance brought back democracy, after the struggle of feudalism in the Medieval era. The government was not far different to the way we are governed today. Education: Greek and Roman ideas on education were rediscovered, making people more informed in the mathematics, history and literature we know and study today. Architecture: Our modern world has taken many ideas in terms of architecture from the renaissance, it can be see in many cities today, even the white house itself comes from renaissance ideas. Inventions: Renaissance ideas in art- such as linear perspective, chiaroscuro, aerial perspective- are still well practiced today. Mechanical inventions such as printing, also have become part of our lives.
