  1. Expository Writing (Writing to explain something in DETAIL and in ORDER)

  2. READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY • Any situational/experience prompt will have a few parts to the question. • Read it as if it were an open-ended response (add a bullet point of your own to each part of the question so you have an idea how many body paragraphs to write) • Restate the question to use as your thesis statement. • Remember to give SUPPORT for your opinions. More support is better than explaining one piece of support.

  3. Written by a 7th grader Crack! Tap! Bang! That’s what I hear when my sister Irish Dances.  I think she should win the award for Best Dancer. She loves dancing and she really deserves this award. She should win the award because she has been doing Irish dancing for four years, she has experience with different types of dance, and she is a natural born dancer. My sister should win this award because she has been dancing for four years. Since she has danced for so long she is really good at it. She knows the routine of steps, outfits and dance compeitions. She has more skills than all of her piers. She has four years of experience that her piers don’t. Thats why my sister should win the award. Another reason why should win is that she has experience with all kinds of dance, not just Irish. She dances tap, ballet, salsa and waltz. She took classes for all of those types of dance and she almost mastered all of them. My grandpa has also told her that practice makes perfect. That is what she did. She practiced all her dances and now she can do them perfect. She should win the award for dance. One last reason that you should pick my sister for this award is that she has been a natural born dancer. Ever since she could walk she was always dancing around to my dad’s music and stomping her feet. She took her first ballet class when she was three years old! Every one that sees her dance, compliments her on how natural and flowing her dance was. Some people get really emotional because it is so beautiful. Those are my three reasons why my sister should win the award for best dancer. Make sure you vote for her because she is the best dancer around. It’s the best decision you will ever make.
