  4. Summary of the Situation (all of season 6) Nancy hooks up with Esteban, a Mexican politician, and gives birth to his son, Stevie. Pillar, Esteban’s publicist and a powerful journalist, threatens Nancy and is then hit over the head by Shane with a mallet. Nancy panics, takes her family , including her newborn son, and runs away trying to outrun both Esteban, who wants to take Stevie back and the FBI, who is trying to catch Nancy and pin Pillar’s death on her. As the Botwins make their way across the country, Andy tells Nancy of his plan to eventually leave and go to Copenhagen. The idea seems like a solution to the family’s problems and Nancy seeing it as an opportunity to keep her family safe and give them a fresh start. When Andy, Shane, and Stevie are getting onto the plane, Nancy is kidnapped by Guillermo and Esteban then forced to tell them where Stevie is. Nancy gets away for just enough time to tell Andy to get on the plane with the kids without her. Nancy meets up with Andy and Shane who have Stevie, and as Andy and Shane get on the plane, Guillermo and Esteban show up with Silas as a hostage. Nancy is forced to give Stevie back to Esteban in order for Silas to safely get on the plane to Copenhagen. Esteban tells Nancy that because she took his son, he is going to have her killed. As Guillermo, Esteban, Nancy, and Stevie are leaving the airport, FBI agents and police Officers show up and arrest Nancy for the murder of Pillar, saving her from her fatal demise. Nancy approaches the incredibly complicated situation with her family in mind.

  6. Feminism in Weeds Nancy strongly portrays the ethical theory of feminism which emphasizes on care and maternal characteristics when she sends her family away to Copenhagen to get them away from all of their legal problems. While her decisions are morally questionable, she bases all her choices on whether or not it is best for her family, all of her family.

  7. Our Analysis • While we believe Nancy did what she believed was best for her family, we think that she should’ve looked at the situation as a whole and spent a little more time thinking about what she should do. • She reacted emotionally and didn’t apply very much logic to her decision making process. Perhaps she should’ve taken a more Kantian stance, and used reason to make her choices.
