Objectives Learn to dribble with: • - ball control • - agility • - hand eye coordination • - Ball will bounce no higher than the waist Learn to shoot with: • developing strength in the legs • Elbows in • Ball on the center of the palm • While flicking your wrist at the end, aim at the backboard or middle of the rim

Louisiana Standards • Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms • Benchmarks: • 1-H-1 Demonstrates proficiency in applying advanced skills, strategies and rules • for specific activities (e.g., plays games such as racquet, field, and court • sports that require advanced eye/body coordination and high levels of • strategy. (1,2,3,4,5)

Louisiana Standards • Standard 2: Applies movement and principles to the learning and development of motor skills. • Benchmarks: • 2-H-1 Synthesizes previously learned skills and incorporates them into dynamic physical activity settings. ( 1,2,3,4 • 2-H-2 Identifies and applies critical elements to enable the development of movement competence/proficiency (e.g., applies biomechanical concepts and principles to analyze and improve performance of self and others). Dribbling input • While dribbling the bounce should bounce from floor to the waist • Dribble with your finger tips • While dribbling, takes steps forward just like walking. • Bend your knees to have a low center of gravity • Once students learn the basics, practice keeping their head up while dribbling now

  6. Dribbling procedure • Have students practice dribbling in place to practice control • Divide the class into halves and have students dribble from each end of the court switching hands. • Next activity

  7. Activity Dribbling Tag • Students will pair off into teams. One team will have blue flags and the other team will have red flags. • Each team will have basketballs, while dribbling they try to maneuver away from the person trying to take their flag away and vice versa, the other person dribbling is trying to take their flag while keeping control of the ball. • Once your flag is taken, you have to sit down. Team with the last person standing wins. .= • Dribble tag will improve the students ball handling under preasure,agilty, and

Shooting • Students will learn shooting a basketball is in a arc motion not straight. • Once you bend your knees, squat a little to give you strength for your shot, then raise up on your feet • Have elbows in, strong hand will shoot the ball keep the ball in palm of hands and let it roll off the fingers. Off hand will the ball in position • Once ball leaves hand, flick the wrist for rotation

Shooting _procedure • Before they shot the ball, I demonstrated how it should look • Divide class, by, one half on end of the court and the other half on the other side. • Then at each half, they will form two separate lines, each line with one person having a ball. • They will shoot the ball until they make it, then the next person will shot and so on. • I will make sure students do not shoot out of their range and keep it order by making sure they don’t take no more than 10 shots each and everybody get a fair chance. • After each person shoot, the line will clap twice for a made shot and once for a missed shot
