  3. Who’s who • Mrs. Bailey (Year Group Leader and Co-Head of Bonham Site) • Mr. Bates and Mrs. Jones (Garnet Class) • Mrs. Akintunde and Mrs. Lydon (Opal Class) • Mr Eduardo (PE & Spanish) • Miss Rose (Music) • Mrs Buckley (Art)

  4. Assessment • Target Tracker – Pupils to be assessed on an ongoing basis. • Tests – Termly tests for SPaG, Reading and Maths but half-termly assessments for Writing.

  5. Maximising attainment • -Attendance (96.6% minimum) & punctuality • - School uniform • - Healthy snacks/Water bottles • - Homework (Monday to Monday – Literacy and Spelling) (Friday to Friday Maths) • - Reading Records

  6. PE KITS • P.E. kits should be in school at all times • - P.E. is a statutory subject that children have to take part in, by law. • - Please ensure that your child has well-fitting plimsolls/trainers on the days that they have P.E. Navy or black shorts/tracksuit bottoms are appropriate.

  7. Trips, Projects, Performances and Themed days

  8. Marwell: y5 residential trip • -Two nights away. • - Similar to Stubbers in terms of activities - all led by qualified instructors. • - More information can be obtained from Mrs D Davis. • - Low response means it may have to be cancelled!

  9. Stay on green • - Step-based behaviour system • - If you behave well, you will move up (Bronze, Silver, Gold) • - If you don’t, you will move down (Blue, Yellow, Red) • - Rewards/Sanctions

  10. What are we learning about? • - The curriculum overview is available on the school website (http://www.valenceprimaryschool.com/en/) • - A curriculum forecast will be sent home half-termly explaining what the children will be learning about for that half term.

  11. Going home • -Year 5 and 6 children are permitted to make their own way home providing that this is a parent choice and that it is put into a signed letter and sent to the main office. • - Children walking home are permitted to bring in a mobile phone which needs to be clearly labelled with the child’s name and class.

  12. Make an appointment • - If you have any concerns about your child or anything else, please feel free to make an appointment with their class teacher to discuss it after school. • Thank you for attending the Welcome Meeting.
