Childhood And Child Marriage

What does it mean to be a ‘girl’? In our society, the identity of a woman is closely associated with the men in her life, starting with her father. When a girl is born, the happiness of her birth in her immediate family varies with respect to the birth of a boy. People with daughters are pitied, and bringing up a daughter is considered to be like watering a plant which is not going to give you shade or fruit. As a result, girls grow up with a temporary membership within their own surroundings, often refused her basic child rights, quality education, healthcare, and basically a good life.

However, some experts believe that the answer to the problem of child marriage lies in educating the girl child. Child rights NGOs in India, especially the child rights NGOs in Delhi have been trying to get to the bottom of this social practice through girl child education, and empower young girls so that they can show their parents that girls are not a burden. Girl child education In one study it has been found that some girls are unable to individuate from their parents because they were never able to live up to what they thought their parents wanted of them and because of which they’ve been forced to get married while others feel that was their destiny. Some of the girls are too young to give this issue a thought. The legal age of marriage in India is 18 for women and 21 for men. Child rights NGO in India However we are living in 21st century, many child rights NGO’s in India are working in favor of women. Many child rights NGO’s in India organize seminars and conferences to pick such crucial issues and create awareness. Many of these childrights NGO’s in Delhi and neighboring areas have been successful as well. Many laws came into practices but again the one who is educated knows their rights. What we as individual citizens can do to help change the situation is to at least support child rights NGOs in Delhi and across India in our own capacity by donating for girl child education. After all, education is the sword with which we can fight; it is the pen with which we can write our destiny. 107, Hastsal Rd, Vikash Nagar JJ Colony, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi, Delhi 110059
