  2. Indian Epics • Indian epic poetry is the epic poetry written in the Indian subcontinent, traditionally called Kavya. The cause of Indian epics were to let Indians record their greatest epics which were traditionally passed down orally for many centuries. The two greatest epic poems of India were Ramayana and Mahabharata.

  3. RAMAYANA Ramayana was the tale of Rama, an incarnation of God Vishnu. It depicts the workings of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, servant, wife and king.

  5. MAHABHARATA Mahabharata is the tale of a great war between two royal houses. It discusses the four “goals of life”. It is the longest known epic poem and is known to be the longest poem ever written.

Vedic age • The Vedic age changed what the Indians Religion was; which was Buddhism. • The Vedic age came in at the end of the Indus Civilization which was through 2500-1500 B.C.E • 1000 years after 1500 B.C.E it was divided into the early and late Vedic age because of the differences between the two cultures.

Buddhism • Buddhism was India’s main religion. • When the writing of the Upanishads was written Buddhism and Jainism was emerged together. • The Upanishads was are a collection of Vedic texts, which contain the earliest emergence of some of the central religious concepts of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
