  2. 2 CHRONICLES 24:2 • “Joash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all the years of Jehoiada the priest.”

GOOD KING ASA • “Asa’s heart was fully committed to the LORD all his life.” 2 Chr. 15:17 • God delivered a million man army from Cush into their hands. 2 Chr. 14 • 1st Revival—2 Chr. 15:12, “They entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul.”

  4. 1. GOOD KING ASA • “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” 2 Chr. 16:9 • 41 year reign.

GOOD KING JEHOSHAPHAT • “His heart was devoted to the ways of the LORD.” 2 Chr. 17:6 • God delivered a vast army from Moab and Ammon into their hands. “The battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chr. 20:15 • 2nd Revival– “Jehoshaphat … turned them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.” 2 Chr. 19:4 • 35 year reign.

  6. EVIL KING JEHORAM • “He did evil in the eyes of the LORD.” 2 Chr. 21:6 • “He passed away to no one’s regret.” 21:20 • 8 year reign.

  7. EVIL KING AHAZIAH • “He did evil in the eyes of the LORD.” 22:4 • His mother, Athaliah was the daughter of King Ahab and Jezebel. “His mother encouraged him in doing wrong.” 22:3 • 1 year reign.

  8. EVIL QUEEN ATHALIAH • “She proceeded to destroy the whole royal family of the house of Judah.” 22:10 • Except the infant Joash. • Aunt Jehosheba and Uncle Jehoiada the priest hid him in the temple for 6 years. 22:11-12

  10. 3. GOOD KING JOASH • “Joash was 7 years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem 40 years.” 24:1

  11. JOASH --3rd REVIVAL • “Joash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all the years of Jehoiada the priest.” 24:2 • “Jehoiada then made a covenant that he and the people and the king would be the LORD’s people.” 23:16

  12. 3rd REVIVAL • Destroyed the temple of Baal, its altars and idols. 23:17 • Renewed worship and sacrifices to Jehovah. 23:18-21 • Joash decided to restore the temple of the LORD. 24:4 • But in the 23rd year of his reign it still had not yet begun! 2 Kings 12:6

  13. 3RD REVIVAL • “A chest was made and placed outside, at the gate of temple of the LORD.” 24:8 • “All the people brought their contributions gladly, dropping them into the chest until it was full.” 24:10 • “The men in charge of the work were diligent, and the repairs progressed under them.” 24:13

  14. 3rd REVIVAL • “As long as Jehoiada lived, burnt offerings were presented continually in the temple of the LORD.” 24:14 • Jehoiada died at the age of 130!

  15. “AS LONG AS JEHOIADA LIVED,” BUT THEN… • They abandoned the temple. 24:18a • They worshiped idols. 24:18b • They refused to listen to the LORD’s prophets. 24:19 • They disobeyed the LORD’s commands. 24:20a • They forsook the LORD. 24:20b

  16. AS LONG AS ______ LIVED • Bible reading. • Prayers. • Church services and worship. • Family devotions. • Obey the LORD. • “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” • Etc.

  17. PAUL AT EPHESUS • Acts 20:17ff • “You know how I lived…” 20:18 • “I served the Lord with great humility and with tears…” 20:19 • “I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.” 20:20

  18. PAUL AT EPHESUS • “Now I know that none of you … will ever see me again.” 20:25 • “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.” 20:28

PAUL AT EPHESUS • “I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.” 20:29 • “Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.” 20:29 • “So be on your guard!   24. JESUS TO LAODICEA • “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” 3:20
