Do it by tonight if you haven’t or it’s late! • 15 mins: Act IV context clues quiz • Raise your hand when you’re done and read the character description handout. • When you’re done, review the character list I found online. 

Thursday: Mob Mentality Notebook title: Mob Mentality/Herd Mentality From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Definition • How large numbers of people act in the same ways at the same times. • Herd mentality implies a fear-based reaction to peer pressure which makes individuals act in order to avoid feeling “left behind” from the group. Herd mentality is also sometimes known as "mob mentality."

  13. Thursday: Mob Mentality Journal title: My Thoughts on Mob Mentality • Why do people behave this way? What motivates people to act rashly and quickly? • What can be done in situations where large groups of people are fearful or panicked? • What helps us cope? • Have you ever been in a situation like this? How did you deal with it? • How could the characters in The Crucible handled their situation differently? If you’re done early, work on your Act IV ?s due tomorrow!

Planner • Due Jan 2: READ something you enjoy and write a ½ page reflection (on a separate piece of paper) on the character you related to, or a lesson you learned… etc.

  15. Friday: Quiz • Show me your Act IV ?s • Quiz on Act III and IV. • Raise your hand if you have questions or you’re done. • Then actively read the article on McCarthyism and write a reflection on the bottom.Hand in at the end of the period.

  17. Hot Seat • Designated “hot seat” in front of the room. 2 minutes to ask the seated person any question in a rapid-fire succession. The hot seat member is allowed to say “pass” for any too personal questions — avoid asking anything too personal, as it can ruin the fun. Sample questions: • “What would you do if you won the lottery?” • “If you could meet and have dinner with any person who ever lived, who would it be and why? What would you ask that person?” • “What three words would you use to describe yourself?” • Questions can be funny, too, such as: • “What was your most embarrassing moment?” • “What was your proudest moment?” • “What was the silliest thing you’ve ever done?”
