DVC/Community College Continued • Timeline • Fall • If DVC is a fall back option, make sure to apply to all 4 year schools in the fall • Winter • Apply for financial aid • Spring assessment tests • Math/English • SAT/ACT are NOT required • Counseling 095/096 (DVC)/Enrollment • Spring semester enrollment • Counseling 095: Meet with DVC counselor to plan course of study • Counseling 096: For student athletes • Additional counseling/career classes of interest • Counseling 120 Student Success: Covers Study skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills. • Career 110: Assessment (120), Major exploration (130) & Job Search strategies (140), students can also take each section separately.

CSU/UC continued • Applications • Use updated transcripts for applications • The Statewide Student ID number can be found at the bottom of your transcript • CSU application: http://www.csumentor.com/ • UC application: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/apply_to_uc.html • Applications open October 1st CSU/UC’s Filing starts November 1st UC’s • All UC’s are impacted so students should apply to ALL UC campuses that they are interested in attending. • 16 of 23 CSU campuses are impacted: Chico, Fresno, Fullerton, Humboldt, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, Cal Poly-Pomona, Sacramento, San Berardino, Cal Poly-SLO, San Diego, San Francisco San Jose, San Marcos & Sonoma • Other CSU campuses are impacted for specific majors. CSU/UC continued • Personal Statement • UC only: Workshop October 6th & 20th after school in the Library • Total: 1000 words, minimum 250 on one prompt • Prompts: • Describe the world you come from? • Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you? • Additional comments section (optional) maximum of 500 words • Use to explain any irregularities on your transcript or A-G requirements • Letter of recommendation • Not necessary or desirable • UC: Introducing the University books • Notice of acceptance begins in March
