Objectives • Student will be able to make complete sentences from fragments and ideas • Students will be able to produce cohesive and coherent written texts by organizing ideas, using effective transitions, and choosing precise wording • Students will be able to select and use voice and style appropriate to audience and purpose

Drafting Using SEE to strengthen your writing • What is SEE? • SEE is a method to use to strengthen your writing • “S” = Statement • This is a statement that conveys, or shows, a main idea • “E” = Extension • Restate or explain the first sentence. Don’t copy, explain • “E” = Elaboration • Give more details about the main idea

How-to Draft • The first paragraph and sentences are extremely important • It is responsible for “hooking” the reader or audience • Quotation • Shocking fact • Dazzling description My animal-killing experiences in India “Dad? I think I killed the elephant.” I single-handedly killed an elephant at seventeen years of age. Oh! and let’s not forget the camel.
