  2. Graduation Requirements • Credits = 25.0 minimum • 4 (each) Math/English/Social Studies • 3 Science • Driver ed (.25)/Health (.25)/Phys. Ed (1.5) • MS office ( .5 credit) • 1 technology • 5.5 electives • Graduation Project (won’t show until final report)

  3. Graduation Project • Grade 9 requirements • LCCTC tour • Begin Community Service 12 hrs required by senior year • Grade 10 requirements • ASVAB • Job Shadow #1 • Continue Community Service • Grade 11 requirements • LCCA Career Fair ( Westminster College) • Job Shadow #2 current juniors- final paperwork due no later than September senior year • Continue Community Service • Grade 12 requirements • Finish Community Service -Current Juniors -Due November senior year • Autobiographical Paper- due in December ( in English class) senior year • Resume- due in December ( in English class) senior year • Exit interview- Current Juniors- February 15, 2018 8:30 am • Make up interviews are on last day for seniors after graduation practice

  4. Summer School 2017 Summer School 2017 • At Mohawk High School only- strictly for remediation purposes • Online course • Transfer grade = 60% (due to remediation course) • Registration information will be available in guidance office soon • Letters of potential candidates were mailed home

  5. College Information • Admission tests • ACT vs. SAT • Grade point averages • Percentage vs 4.0 scale conversion • 90-100= A = 4.0 • 80-89 = B = 3.0 • Add points of full credit classes then divide by number of full credits EX science 85 = 3.0 math= 76 = 2.0 history 90= 4.0 3 + 2 + 4 = 9 divided by 3 = 3.0 Percentage 85 + 76 + 90 = 251 divided by 3 = 83.66% • Letters of Recommendation(pre recommendation forms available on line) • Transcripts ( paper forms available on line) $1.00/transcript • Parchment Transcripts- online FREE • Registration required- letters with log in information provided

  6. College Information • Over the summer-visit colleges-use college website for contact information • Complete applications at campus visit-some schools will waive the application fee. Transcripts and other materials can be sent later. • I suggest applying to at least one school by October 31. College is very competitive these days. • Many schools require letters of recommendation and school/counselor reports. • All forms are outside my office or on the guidance web page

  7. College Information • Study SAT/ACT over the summer- it is suggested that you have a senior score even if you already applied. • June SAT/ ACT available. Check testing calendar for registration deadlines. Students already have SAT log in information. • New SAT test date in August. No January test date. Plan ahead. December then March dates

  8. Athletics • NCAA • Division 1 and 2 schools • Register online for pre approval at www.eligibilitycenter.org School code 392902 Looks at courses taken (core classes), GPA, and SAT/ACT scores All have minimum eligibility requirements

  9. Financial Aid • Local • Typically arrive in guidance late winter early spring. Deadlines vary and often require letters of recommendation, financial information, transcripts, essays, resumes….plan ahead • All can be found in English 12 classes and on table outside my office • National • Good websites to find include • www.educationplanner.org • www.fastweb.com • www.collegeboard.com • NEVER pay for a scholarship search if you can access an internet

Financial Aid • FAFSA (Free application for Federal Student Aid) • Filing begins October 2017 • www.fafsa.ed.gov to get a “sneak preview” the website • Financial Aid and senior fall meeting  OCTOBER 30, 2017  6:30 pm LGI • FAFSA online workshop  immediately following  OCTOBER 30, 2017  7:00 pm  • Senior and graduate families welcome to complete FAFSA • Expert help will be here to help • Will use 2016 tax information

Dual Enrollment/Independent Study/Transfer Credits etc.. • Dual Enrollment • College Credit & High School Credit earned simultaneously • Clarion University, BC3, Westminster, SRU, PSU • College Within the High School • Seton Hill College • Fall parent meeting to discuss registration (cost is $220 per course) Plan ahead • Independent Study • ONLY if class does not fit in schedule • Transfer Credits • NONE are calculated into GPA • ALL must be pre approved before registering. • Paperwork is obtained and filed in guidance and submitted to Principal and the Superintendent.

Miscellaneous Information • Check the NTSD website and the guidance link http://www.ntsd.org • Voter Registration in the guidance office • Register with Selective Service-Males 18 years old • www.sss.gov • Senior Recognition Assembly- May 30, 2017 7:00 pm Auditorium parents and guests are invited but SENIORS only will be recognized • Baccalaureate June 6, 2017 7:00 pm St Camillis de Lellis Parish • Commencement June 7, 2017 7:00 pm Auditorium
