  5. P523 (7-9) • A wave along a guitar string has a frequency of 440 Hz and a wavelength of 1.5m. What is the speed of the wave? • The speed of sound in air is about 340 m/s. What is the wavelength of sound waves produced by a guitar string vibrating at 440 Hz? • The speed of light is 3 x 108 m/s. What is the frequency of microwaves with a wavelength of 1 cm?

  6. P523 (7-9) • (440 Hz) x (1.5 m) = 660 m/s • (340 m/s) / (440 Hz) = 0.77 m • (3 x 108 m/s) / (0.01 m) = 3 x 1010 Hz
