  2. History • Martial arts started in China. • It is also practiced for exercise • It is practiced for self defense • Martial arts have been part of the Chinese culture for 2000 years. • The government provides sports in facilities, factories, schools and government buildings.

  3. Martial arts in the U.S • More than 6 million children in the U.S do martial arts. • It is known to improve discipline and respect. • Kung Fu is one of the martial arts commonly performed in both the U.S. and in China

  4. Chinese indoor sports • Ping pong and table tennis are China’s national sport! • Kids in school play ping pong at recess. • Kids also play badminton during recess time. • Gymnastics has been part of China for 2 thousand years!

  5. Chinese outdoor games • Soccer and basketball are both very popular in China • China does very well in the Olympics in swimming and volleyball and gymnastics. • Gymnastics has been part of China for 2 thousand years!
