  3. Num 11:1 And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

  4. (people)‛amama people (as a congregated unit); specifically a tribe; hence (collectively); figuratively a flock

  5. (heard)שׁמעshâma‛shaw-mah'to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, attentively,

  6. (displeased)אזן'ôzeno'-zenbroadness, that is,the ear, displease

  7. (fire)אשׁ'êshayshfire (literally or figuratively): burning, fiery, fire, flaming, hot.

  8. (consumed)אכל'âkalto eat (literally or figuratively), burn up, consume, devour (-er, up), dine, eat

  9. Most are so used to complaining they don’t give it a 2nd thought … much less call it a sin

  10. I. Complaining is the most common sin

  11. Notice how often the children of Israel complained (vs. 4)

  12. II. Complaining questions God’s goodness

  13. Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

  14. III. Complaining is destructive to our testimony

  15. “Difficulties are opportunities for us to show the world God’s grace in our lives!”

  16. A sweet spirit testifies to the world the power of Christianity… however…

  17. A complaining spirit indicates a lack of victory and spiritual power.

  18. Job 26:4 To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?

  19. Only 3 sources for “whose spirit comes out of you…”

  21. IV. Complaining has disastrous results

  22. Num 14:27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

  23. Only 2 of the original 3,000,000 entered the Promised Land … all because of murmuring (obstinate attitude in Hebrew)
