Mission Statement • Steppenwolf Theater company is a Chicago based International performing arts institution ensemble collaboration and artistic risk through its work with its permanent ensemble, guess artists, partner institutions and the community. Steppenwolf has redefined the landscape of acting and performance by spawning a generation of America’s most gifted artists.

  4. Artistic Director • Martha Lavey Also an actor- Appeared in plays such as “I Never Sang for my Father,” “The House of Lilly” and “A Clockwork Orange Recipient of the Sarah Siddons Award and an Alumni Merrit Award from Northwestern Been director since 1995 Has had 25 productions at Steppenwolf

  6. Building • Steppenwolf opened a new Theater complex on April 13, 1991. The company moved from Jane Adams Hole House Center in Broadway, Chicago. • Before 1991, the Theater was in a church basement.

  7. Seating • Have an upstairs and downstairs seating • 299 seats available in the upstairs seating configuration • 515 seats available in the downstairs seating

  8. Founded • In January 1974 Steppenwolf Theater was founded by Terry Kinney, Jeff Perry, and Gary Sinise.
