  2. Mission Statement Pt. 1 Mission of the Education Department Macedonia’s Education Department in Partnership with God and our Community “Education is a work: the effect will be seen through the ceaseless ages of eternity. All the varied capabilities that men possesses-of mind and soul and body are given them by God to be so employed as to reach the highest possible degree of excellence. True education means more than taking a certain course of study. It is broad. It includes the harmonious development of all the physical powers of the mental faculties”   Ellen G. White, (1997). Mind, Character, and Personality, Volume1, p359-360.     The role of the Education Department in our church is to help our members and our student population becomes aware of the power there is in the educated soul. Our mission is to empower our members by helping them accomplish their education goals in life, of excelling in everything they do, thus becoming the head in everything they participate in. The church is to be known in the community as a spiritual and educational light bearer. Education is a God-given ability to his people and therefore it should be used to his glory and honor Tutoring/Mentoring Programs The Education Department here at Macedonia has launched its tutoring/mentoring program which began April 6th 2010. The many tolls such as computers, printers, and text books are provided free of cost to the community. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, volunteers from the church and from the nearby universities are present at the church to work with students who need help with their school work, in whatever areas they encounter difficulties.

  3. Mission Statement Pt. 2 SAT Prep Class Macedonia Education Department in collaboration with KAPLAN started a SAT Prep class for the youth in our community who will be taking the examination in their junior or senior year of high school. It will be offered at a discounted price from KALAN’s normal group rates, and payment plans will also be available. Good SAT scores are beneficial for high school students to get into the colleges and universities of their choice.   Fund-raising Fund-raising activities are in effect for the finances of the department. This will be a continuous process and we seek the help of those who are willing and able to help offset some of the cost of materials used in the department. So far we have had the Coin Drive in May along with our Movie Night Social after Education Day. We are also having a weekly Children’s Story Collection, and plan on having various fundraising events at the close of the school year, including another “Schools Out Movie Night” and a “Children’s Fun Day” in the summer. We thank you for your support thus far and pray you will continue to support the Education Department in all that we do.   “True education is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual power. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come. E.G. White, Education, Page 13

  6. About the Church • Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church's understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture. Revision of these statements may be expected at a General Conference session when the church is led by the Holy Spirit to a fuller understanding of Bible truth or finds better language in which to express the teachings of God's Holy Word.
