  1. TCFT Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance • Our increasing acceptance and also dependence on using computing systems & software in virtually all walks of life (from sensors, processors, memory, communication devices, safety-critical fly-by-wire, drive-by-wire, nuclear, health, critical infrastructure to $-critical web servers) has developed as we are able to trust them to deliver the desired services “irrespective of the perturbations (design, operational or deliberate attacks) encountered by them”. TCFT deals with designing, building, assessing and validating dependable/secure systems and software. May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 1

  2. TCFT Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance • Sponsored Conferences & Attendance • DSN: Dependable Systems & Networks ~350+ • DFT: Defect and Fault Tolerance ~150 • LADC: Latin America Dependable Computing ~150 • PRDC: Pacific Rim Dependable Computing ~200 • SAFECOMP: Computer Safety, Reliability & Security ~250 • Strong interaction with IFIP WG 10.4 on Dependable Computing • Publications • Archival proceedings are published for each conference May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 2

  3. TCFT Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance • Reaching the Members • Website www.dependability.org & www.dsn.org • Weekly Newsletter • TC meeting at flagship DSN conference • William C. Carter Award at DSN; 30-50 Student Awards • TC membership: 45% US; 40% Europe, 15% Asia/SA • Academia ~60%; Industry ~40% • Wide exposure and access for TC members to proceedings, tools, data repositories, benchmarks, blogs on topical issues May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 3

  4. TCFT Dependable Computing and Fault Tolerance • Highlights • Steady growth in TC membership and attendance at key TCFT sponsored conferences especially DSN • Steady growth of student and industry participation • Joint sponsorship formal MoU with IFIP 10.4 on Dependable Computing • Impediments • TMRF complexity & IEEE costs • No forum for sustaining sponsorship and excess funds beyond calendar year. May 4-5, 2011 TAC Workshop 4
