  1. UNTAPPED BACKLINKS Checklist 17 1 I’m sure you’ve already read just about enough information on traditional link building strategies, like guest posting, for one lifetime. AUDIO SHARING SITES Well today I’m going to shake things up. Create a piece of audio (you can use Vocaroo to record within your browser and export as an .mp3). I’m going to share my secret stash of untapped link building strategies, tactics and sources with you... including 2 strategies that I don’t cover in this post: http://backlinko.com/17-untapped-backlink-sources. Create accounts at the following authoritative audio sharing sites: Reverbnation.com (PR6) YourListen.com (PR5) BandCamp.com (PR7) Upload your audio and add a link to your site on your profile page (example) 2 Sutros.com (PR5) DONATE TO CHARITY 3 BLOGGER REVIEWS Search for sites that accept donations using these search strings: “donate to us” “contributors page” allintitle: “contributors” Decide what you plan on giving away to review. It can be a software, an information product, physical product, or service. Anything of value that bloggers in your niche would want to try and write about it fair game. “sponsors page” allintitle: “sponsors” Check to see if contributors get dofollow links in exchange for donating. Also poke around the site to make sure it looks legit. Find bloggers in your niche searching for things like “best (niche) blogs 2014” or using the blog directory, AllTop. Reach out to them with this email script: Donate and get your links Hey (site owner name), I was searching for some homepage soap recipes today when I came across (site name). 4 GIVE TESTIMONIALS Awesome stuff! Actually, I just launched a guide that teaches people how to make luxury soaps at home. I usually charge $X, but I’d be more than happy to send it over to you on the house. All I’d ask is that you’d consider mentioning it on your blog or writing a review. List all of the products and services that you’ve used over the last 6-months. Check to see if their websites have a testimonials page, like this one. Let me know how that sounds. Cheers, Reach out to them with your testimonial. Mention that they have permission to include it on their testimonials page. Your name

  4. 15 INFOGRAPHICS Identify a trending topic in your industry (Tip: use Google Trends). Put your data together. Hire a pro designer on a site like Odesk or Elance to create the infographic. THE SKYSCRAPER TECHNIQUE 16 Promote your infographic using Guestographics. Identify content in your industry that’s performed well in terms of generating backlinks, social shares and blog comments. Make something that blows the piece of content you found out of the water. 17 Reach out to the people that linked to the inferior piece GOOGLE PLUS PROFILE Create a Google Plus profile Include a contextual link in your “About” area BONUS STRATEGY #1 CRAZY LONG LISTS People LOVE linking to insanely long lists of helpful items. In today’s world, where “7 tips for…” are everywhere, an insanely long list makes you instantly stand out. Here are two examples of ridiculously long lists from the web: 100 Ways to Conserve Water (Over 800 Linking Root Domains) (Note, you have to be signed out of Google+ to see the link as dofollow. Weird but true). 101 Ways to Build Link Popularity (Over 650 Linking Root Domains) And you’re set :-D Identify a topic in your industry where a list of items would make sense and add value. Organize your list into categories. If your list is “101 ways to eat healthier”, divide the list up into categories like “breakfast”, “low-carb desserts”, “mindset” etc. Create your long list. #hustle Publish your list. Reach out to people linking to any shorter lists out there and give them a heads up about your list.

  5. BONUS STRATEGY #2 HELPING HACKED SITES Thousands of sites get hacked everyday. And not all hacks are obvious. Some stealthy hacks invade the site and quietly add pages that sell prescription drugs. If you can find these hacked site – and let them know about their issue – you have an in that can land you a quality, contextual link. Find hacked sites using these search strings inurl:keyword + “Viagra” For example, if you were in the fitness space, you’d search for: Inurl:fitness + “Viagra” Reach out to the site owner to let him or her know about the hack. If they offer to repay you, mention you published something that they may want to link to from a high PR page on their site.
