  2. Nicholas II was born on May 6, 1868, in Tsarskoe Selo. His mother was Marie Fyodorovna Romanova, formerly Dagmar, Princess of Denmark. Below is a photo of Czar Nicolas II.

  3. His father Alexander Romanov was an important member of the Russian government.

  4. Unlike the rest of the Romanov men, Nicholas was not a very tall man. The other men were always very intimidating; Nicholas however, was a mere 5' 6 tall. To make up for his lack of height, Nicholas worked out with weights and other athletic equipment, to gain muscle. (not actually Czar Nicolas II)

  5. Nicholas was known for his regal appearance. He had lively blue eyes that people always thought were the well of his soul. He wore his brown hair parted to the left and had a thick beard. He had golden highlights throughout. Those golden highlights stayed with him throughout his life and became his signature feature. (not actually Czar Nicolas II)

  6. Czar was not considered a popular ruler, but rather he led Russia to an economic and military collapse.

  7. Czar was not the most favored ruler of Russia even from the start, mainly because he had his crowing event at a military training location, filled with trenches. At the time a rumor went around that their would not be enough food, so people raced to get there, and ran over each other killing 1,389 people. This tragedy was known as “The Khodynka Tragedy”

  8. At one point however he was nominated for The Nobel Peace Prize for promoting the Hague Peace Conference. This conference was about ending the arms race. (the Norwegian Nobel Committee)

  9. On July 17, 1918 Czar Nicolas II was executed for attempting to be exiled but his plea has been overruled. He was the first to be killed out of the family execution. They were all shot with a revolver after being told they need to move them for their safety.
