Cyanthiwigins • Cyanthiwigins are a family of natural products that have been isolated from marine sponges. • Most have a 5-6-7 tricyclic ring system and possess antitumor and antibiotic properties. • The cyanthiwigins are a subclass of a larger group of bioactive natural products called cyathanes. • The likely biosynthesis of the cyathanes are through a cationic cascade reaction from the diterpene, geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate.
