  2. Mim Mushaddad – ميم مشدّد • Like Noon Mushaddad, Mim Mushaddad is pronounced with Ghunnah

  3. Mim Sakin Rules - مْ 3 rules for Mim Sakin Mim sakin (مْ) is read in three different ways according to the letter followed by the Mim sakin: Mim Sakin Izhar (Clear sound) Ikhfa (Hidden sound) Idgham (Merged sound)

  4. Mim Sakin Rules - مْ Mim Idgham rule - شفويالادغام • If Mim Mutaharik (مَِ) is followed by Mim Sakin(مْ), merge them together and read with Ghunnah: ‏Mim Mutaharik ‏Mim Sakin أمْ مَن‌‌ْ This merging is called Idgham - ادغام Merge both Mims together أمَّنْ

  6. Mim Sakin Rules - مْ Mim Ikhfa rule - شفويالاخفاء: • If Ba ب comes after Mim sakin (in two separate words), the pronunciation of Mim will be concealed/hidden with Ghunnah: After Mim Sakin, next letter is Ba Mim Sakin رَبَّهُمْ بِهِمْ Hide the sound of Mim

  8. Mim Sakin Rules - مْ Mim Ikhfa examples: وَمَا هُمْ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ وَمَا هُمْ بِخَارِجِينَ مِنَ النَّارِ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللّهُ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضً Note: Mim Ikhfa only occurs in two separate words

  9. Mim Sakin Rules - مْ Mim Izhar rule - شفويالاظهار: • If any other letter (other than ب and م) comes after Mim sakin, pronounce the Mim sakin clearly (without any Ghunnah): The next letter is NOT ب or م Mim Sakin الْحَمْدُ للّهِ Make the sound of Mim clear

Mim Sakin Rules - مْ Practice text: Identify Mim Izhar إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ Identify Mim Ikhfa, Idgham and Izhar فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ اللّهُ مَرَضاً وَلَهُم عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْذِبُونَ Identify Mim Idgham and Izhar يَجْعَلُونَ أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِم مِّنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ

Mim Sakin Rules - مْ • Mim Izhar rule is easy because we always read Mim sakin clearly (whether we know the Mim Izhar rule or not). • Mim Idgham rule is also easy because we put Shaddah sign on Mim (مّ) to indicate the idgham. • Care should be taken for Mim Ikhfa rule because we do not use any sign to indicate Mim Ikhfa
