  2. Meditation • Meditation has been around for as long as we all can remember. Most people recognize meditation as a spiritual practice and they often neglect to see the health benefits of the art of meditation.

  3. How does meditation help? • Many doctors today are implementing meditation into the treatment plans of life threatening diseases as well as reversing mental illnesses. • Meditation can lower your oxygen consumption and it can even assist in decreasing your respiratory rate, which can help with many different types of lung conditions as well as relaxation. How does meditation help with you medically?

  4. How does meditation help with stress? • Many women find it very beneficial as meditation can help out to reduce the symptoms of Premenstrual syndrome, reducing the tension and emotional stress that come with a woman’s period. • People are under many different types of stress throughout their lives and stress can play a big toll on one’s health.

  5. What is fasting • It’s act of willingly abstaining from some or all food and drink • An absolute fast goes for 1 day or 7 day

  6. Fasting practices may include other activities as well • In a physiological text it may refer to • 1 • 2 • The longest known fast for a human is 132 days (without food).

  7. What are the positive and negative effects of fasting • Positives negatives • Weight loss breaks down glycogen • Purges liver lack of nutrients. • Liver and kidneys no energy • Break eating habits anorexia

  17. How Hinduism effects your health Hindu’s believe that emotional, physical, mental and spiritual must all be balanced to have a good health. Hindu's practise yoga to achieve alignment with all four of the elements Hindu meditation is a way to lower blood pressure, reduce stress and even to gain knowledge

Hindu food beliefs • Hindu’s don’t eat cow because they believe its sacred • Hindus don't eat pig because the think it is a dirty animal • The three Hindu food groups • Tamasic foods are impure and heavily processed, should be avoided • Rajasic foods includes meats, eggs, spices, onions, garlic, pickles and spicy foods. Should be eaten sparingly • Sattvic foods should be eaten regularly and includes Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds.

  19. Does religion affect peoples health? • The way people live and what they believe does influence their life in many ways. • Belonging and being part of a group is basic to feeling secure. Therefore belonging to a religion fills an emotional need as well as a spiritual need.

  20. Buddhism encourages vegetarianism and long periods of meditation. Some Buddhists chose to eat fish as well. Meditation gives time away from every day life, were you can find inner peace. Many religions require long periods of prayer, which in another way is a form of meditation. • From the information I’ve collected, being part of a religious group is beneficial to ones emotional and physical health.

  21. Are there negative influences? • Religions can have a negative affect and influence on health. Some religions encourage racism, bias to other religions and even holy wars. For many years, the Catholic fought the Protestants, when they share the same god, but different rules. • Living with anger and worry will have very negative affects on a person’s conscience.

Fasting is, according to Free Dictionary and Wikipaedia.org “Abstain from all or some kinds of food or drink, esp. as a religious observance.” • Some religions require excessive periods of fasting. • An essential element of Eastern Orthodox Christianity is fasting. Fasting, In Eastern Orthodox is a way to teach self-restraint, which is the source of all good.

  23. In conclusion, religion can either have a negative or positive affect, but in the end, you need to make the decision for yourself, and sum up if you really believe in the practices. You always need to keep an open mind.
