  1. Annual Coaches meetingSeptember 22, 2014 Mounds View Irondale Youth Hockey Association

  2. Registration Coordinator: Anne Lalla CEP Requirements • See attached “Coach Registration Process” • Mite level coaches only can have an expired CEP • All coaching requirements need to be completed by December 31. • Use the Association Debit Card for all coaching expenses. Instructions are provided after you login to register as a coach.

  3. Roster Requirements • Any coach who will be on the ice or bench, must be on the roster. • Absolutely NO non-rostered players are allowed on the ice (this includes younger/older siblings), for any reason, unless that player is a STUDENT COACH with properly submitted and signed paperwork in the team book.  This is a direct mandate by MN/USA Hockey and a major liability concern.  Non-rostered players are not covered while on the ice/bench under the USA Hockey liability insurance.  This policy must be strictly followed by MVID and its coaches.

  4. D2 Coach and Manager Meetings • Head Coach and Team Manager meetings are posted on website. • Bantam A&B, Peewee A&B, U12 A & B: October 22 • Bantam C, Peewee C, Squirt (all levels) U14A, U10 (all levels): November 5 • Mite and U8: December 3 • WBL Central Middle School: 6:30pm

  5. Treasurer: Jim Wurst Budget and Payment Procedure • No team checkbooks • Parents register on-line with credit card for ice bills • Automatic Drafts in November, December and January • Mite 1, 2 and U8 do not have monthly/end of year payments. • Teams may get sponsors to reduce team expense (Usually a big help!!) • Send an email blast to your team via yourself or your team manager.

  6. D2 Rep: Dave Schavee • All D2 related questions should go through Dave or the D2 Level Coordinator. • The D2 President and Director field hundreds of requests and we need to filter them through the reps first. • Do not contact the D2 Ice Coordinator director, all questions/comments go to Mike Gallagher. • All MVID hockey players must wear HECC-approved helmets with full facemasks, mouth guards, hockey gloves, breezers, jersey, cup, and shoulder, shin, and elbow pads. • Helmet chinstraps must be securely fastened and mouth guards must be in place at all times while on the ice. • No Shirts/Skins or “Light Gear Practices”

  7. Locker Room Rules • It is mandatory that there be adult supervision in the locker room at all times. Coaches, managers, and background-screened parents are acceptable. • Players may not have a private meeting in the locker room with a coach or coaches. A parent must be present or the meeting must be in a public place such as a lobby or meeting room.

  8. Grievances andMediation Committee • 5 Board Members, Email link on web site • Facilitate resolution of issues, see Handbook for further info. • It is the belief of the MVYHA that most differences are minor and the best manner in which to work out a difference of opinion is for the parties involved to meet with one another. • This is true whether the discussion is between parents, a coach and a player, a coach and manager, or a coach and parent. • It is recommended that MVYHA members keep in mind that there is a “proper time” to discuss most issues and that the proper time is never right after a difficult defeat or in the company of other players and parents. • Make every effort to inform your player’s parents about the “24 hour rule, and the need for all to take time to “cool off”.

  9. Equipment Coordinator: Troy McCulloch • Call for goalie equipment needs, Equipment Coordinator will meet player at the storage unit. The Association provides leg pads, chest protector, blocker, and catcher glove. • DO NOT purchase equipment and ask for reimbursement without prior approval by Equipment Coordinator. • Jerseys and socks will be distributed at Team Manager Meeting on 10/23/14. • The Team / Team Manager is responsible for getting names on the back of the jerseys (Optional). Players keep their jerseys at the end of the season.
