Parents’ Evenings • Write brief notes about each child, make sure your comments are meaningful. • Have your mark book with you • Make examples of pupil work available for concrete discussions with parents • Be honest, but be tactful, don’t spring any major surprises at the evening • Keep to time. • Dress to impress

Meeting with Parents/Telephone Conversations • Always keep detailed notes on conversations with parents • Keep other staff informed in the school • Before making a phone call, take time to think about what you want to say • Check parents names carefully • Ask for help when you need it • Always try to agree an action plan
