  2. Open issues from March AOW •  Some DCS DPs were not found by the Shuttle • problem solved thanks to P. Chochula’s help from DCS side (some DCS DP didn’t have the corresponding alias assignment) and to M. Gagliardi on ZDC side (bug in the script that forced DP value writing) • all the DPs are found by the Shuttle! •  ZPA spectra were not reproduced by MC • due to not correct tracking in the A side compensator field: GEANT step size was too large and charged particles were not affected by the 1st compensator field • Andreas and Andrei updated AliPIPEv3 code •  correct tracking from rev. 39872 C. Oppedisano

  5. GEOMETRY • Vertical collimator jaws • Jaw apertures and center can be set at config level independently for side A and side C collimators. The implementation calculates the jaw dimensions in order not to have overlaps with the elliptical beam pipe present in the collimator region. • Setters to be used in Config.C: • SetVCollSideCAperture(value); • SetVCollSideCCentre(value); • SetVCollSideAAperture(value); • SetVCollSideACentre(value); • Hadronic calorimeter vertical positions • The detector vertical position can be set in config file for the 4 hadronic calorimeters. • Setters that can be used in Config.C: • SetYZNC(value) • SetYZPC(value); • SetYZNA(value); • SetYZPA(value); • Media cuts moved to galice.cuts C. Oppedisano

SIMULATION • Possibility to generate with crossing angle 900 GeV data ZNA Dipole OFF Dipole ON • ZDC response for neutral particle is affected by the ALICE dimuon dipole settings since it produces an internal crossing angle • ZN vertical positions were not changed during 900 GeV data taking The possibility to generate with a not null crossing angle has been introduced for PYTHIA6 (from rev. 40865) by G. Luparello, she is currently working on adding the feature also to PHOJET. C. Oppedisano

  7. RAW DATA • AliZDCRawStream class has been consistently updated in order to decode data from the (ZDC + ADD) TDCs • Modules decoded by ZDC streaming raw class: • 4 ADCs • 1 TDC • 1 VME scaler ZDC • trigger card • 1 ADC • 1 TDC ADD C. Oppedisano

Pb-Pb SIMULATION @ 1.38+1.38 A TeV • The simulation were tuned for Pb-Pb @ 2.76+2.76 A TeV • changes to adjust simulation and reconstruction for the coming HI run: • SIMULATION • PMT gains rescaled according to beam energy AliZDCDigitizer • spectator nucleon signal stored in folders according to beam energy SpectatorSignal.root • at digitization time spectator signal is chosen accordingly to beam energy C. Oppedisano

  10. Pb-Pb SIMULATION @ 1.38+1.38 A TeV • RECONSTRUCTION • Glauber MC run at the foreseen energy to generate b and Npart distributions used in ZDC reconstruction, inelastic NN x-sec. value updated sNN = 60 mb • GlauberMCDist.root C. Oppedisano

QA • Implementation of reference data • Late in planning tool + Savannah bug 69378  currently working on the item • Raw QA histos for DQM • 10 histos: • ZEM1 and ZEM2 spectra • PMC for the 4 hadronic ZDCs • Sum(PMQi) vs. PMC for the 4 • hadronic calorimeters • Request to port changes to the • release  Savannah bug 69246 ZEM1 ZEM2 ZNC ZNA ZPC ZPA ZPC ZNC ZNA ZPA ZPA C. Oppedisano

Night problems In the Shuttle night test setup the ZDC preprocessor fails from July the 2nd AliZDCPreprocessor code has not been changed from rev. 40501 of April the 19th For all the run types the error is the same: I-TAlienFile::Open: Accessing image 1 of alien:///alice/testdata/2010/OCDB/ZDC/Calib/ChMap/Run43645_999999999_v9_s0.root?filetype=raw&cachesz=4000000&readaheadsz=2000000&rmpolicy=1 in SE <ALICE::CERN::SE> E-TXNetFile::CreateXClient: open attempt failed on alien:///alice/testdata/2010/OCDB/ZDC/Calib/ChMap/Run43645_999999999_v9_s0.root?filetype=raw&cachesz=4000000&readaheadsz=2000000&rmpolicy=1&mkpath=1 E-TAlienFile::Open: No more images to try - giving up E-TFile::Cp: cannot open source file /alien/alice/testdata/2010/OCDB/ZDC/Calib/ChMap/Run43645_999999999_v9_s0.root The problem should be in accessing the file /alice/testdata/2010/OCDB/ZDC/Calib/ChMap/Run43645_999999999_v9_s0.root (idea shared by Chiara Z.)
