  3. Introductions

  4. What is the Gay Straight Alliance? • The Gay Straight Alliance is a school club that provides support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) communities. Our goal is to provide a safe space for all different types of people to express themselves, promote equality along with anti-bullying throughout Cedar Ridge, and educate others about the LGBTQ community. We hope to create an environment in which people can feel that they have the support of others behind them in their various endeavors.

  5. PRIDE Parade • When: Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at 8pm • If participating in the parade, you must arrive at 7pm. • Where: Downtown Austin (Exact meeting location is pending) • What: PRIDE Parade is the largest event of Austin PRIDE week and Round Rock High School has invited all RRISD GSAs to participate in the parade with them. While the theme of the whole PRIDE parade is “LOVE UNITES” our float’s theme will be Alice in Wonderland. Start thinking of what character you’d like to be and finding a costume to suit said character. Be ready to share characters next meeting • Most details about the Parade are still pending and as soon as the president of RRHS’ GSA gives me the details, I’ll share them with you!

  6. It Gets Better • When: Friday, September 20th at 8:00pm • Buses will arrive at 6:15 and leave around 6:45 • Where: Event is held at the Long Center; buses will be at Cedar Ridge • What: “A collaboration by L.A.’s Speak Theater Arts, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles and the It Gets Better Project, this musical performance provides a performing arts response to the difficult issue of bullying, one of the most challenging issues among today’s young adults and adolescents. The performance at the Long Center will involve a number of Austin musicians, including members of Conspirare, the Capital City Men’s Chorus and others, in a program designed to inspire and open minds.”

  7. Nominations • Vice President: President’s “right-hand-man”. Willing to lead meetings, if necessary, and help with formatting meetings. • Secretary: Well organized, willing to write down the minutes of each meeting, and type them up so that they can be uploaded to the website. • Historian: Someone who likes to take pictures, and document everything we do as a group. • Treasurer: A person that is willing to keep track of our club funds, and help figure out the cost of future events.
