  3. Characters Main Character – Kit Others: Aunt Rachel, Uncle Matthew, Cousin Mercy, Cousin Judith, and the witch, Hannah, who lives near Blackbird Pond

  4. Plot • Kit leaves Barbados • Kit lands in Connecticut • Kit meets her aunt, uncle, and cousin • Kit learns that she will have to work • Kit goes to church for the first time • Kit begins to work at the school with Mercy • Kit gets fired from her job at the school • Kit meets the witch
