About the Committee • The Committee was established by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 • The Committee will advise the Secretary of Education in assisting two-year degree-granting institutions of higher education in meeting the completion or graduation rate disclosure requirements outlined in the Act

  3. Committee Charge • Develop recommendations regarding the accurate calculation and disclosure of completion or graduation rates of entering certificate- or degree-seeking, full-time undergraduate students by two-year degree-granting institutions of higher education

  4. Committee Charge • Develop recommendations regarding additional or alternate measures of student success that are comparable alternatives to the completion or graduation rates of entering degree-seeking, full-time undergraduate students, taking into account the mission and role of two-year degree-granting higher education institutions

  5. Committee Charge • The Committee will provide its report to the Secretary no later than 18 months after its first meeting

  6. Committee Members • Nominations for individuals to serve on the Committee were solicited through a notice in the Federal Register published in 2009 • Members were appointed by the Secretary in consultation with the Commissioner of Education Statistics • The 15 members include institutional leaders, state officials, policy and research experts, students, and other stakeholders

Meetings • The first meeting of the Committee was held in Washington, DC on October 20, 2010 • The next meeting will be held in Washington, DC and is tentatively scheduled for February 2011 • Meetings of the Committee are announced in the Federal Register and are open to the public • Individuals interested in attending Committee meetings must register in advance
