  2. Introduction During this lesson, you are going to investigate one creature that can be found in the rock pools of our coast, the Hermit Crab. Your investigation should include the following the following: • The natural habitat of the hermit crab • What the hermit uses as a home • Its predators • Life cycle of a hermit crab

  3. The task/ activities • Task 1 You will find out about the natural habitat of the marine hermit crab and produce a poster using publisher to show this information. You may use images , but DO NOT cut and paste text

  4. The task/ activities • Task 2 • You will investigate what a hermit crab uses for a home, when and how they move ‘house’. This information should the be added to your poster. • Task 3 • You will investigate what, if any, are the hermit crabs main predators and display this information as part of a food chain. You may choose how you present this.

  5. Task 4 To complete the tasks you will produce a diagram showing the life cycle of a hermit crab. This diagram will be added to your food chain presentation.

  6. Resources and weblinks You may use the science books in the classroom , books from the Library and the internet or you can click on the pictures below.

  7. Evaluation You work will be given to …………………………… Who will mark it along with the rest of the class. You will be asked to give a small presentation about your findings.

  8. Conclusion Having completed the tasks you will have a greater understanding of the following areas: • What a habitat is. • What is meant by life cycle. • What is a food chain. You will also improve your use of ICT by using the following software: • Publisher • Powerpoint • Mind maps
