Regional Archaeological Museum Plovdiv • RAM is one of the oldest cultural institutions in Bulgaria, officially opened in 1882, celebrating its 130 anniversary this year. • The Museum owns a rich collection ofmore than 100 000 works of art and artifacts, related to the history of Plovdiv (Philippopol) and the region. • In 2010, following a long period of reconstruction, the Museum was reopened with the most modern building and permanent exposition in Bulgaria, corresponding to all European standards.

  3. The permanent exposition includes 3 500 unique exhibits from the earliest periodof the human civilization – VІІ millennia BC until the Middle Ages - ХІV c. AD

  4. The Panagyurishte Gold Treasure – The emblem of the Archaeological Museum Plovdiv The Treasure is dated in the second half of the ІV c. – the first half ofthe ІІІ c. BC

  5. The Library • 12 000 volumes in archaeology, history, architecture, epigraphy and numismatics • A fund of unique rare and voluble editions • A rich collection of reference literature • Editions of the Museum • Luxury editions • A photo collection including images on glass plates and negatives

  6. Awards • In 2011 the Library was acknowledged as a leading specialized library in Plovdiv. • “A Flight over the Night” Award2011from the Night of Museums and Galleries in Plovdiv.

  7. Priorities • Research • Studying the Cultural heritage in Plovdiv and the region • Preserving the Cultural heritage in Plovdiv and the region : providing appropriate depositories; leadingconservation, restoration and digitalization projects • Participating in educational activities • Promotion - Collaborating with foundations, associations, museums and other cultural and state institutions (joint and visiting exhibitions, public lectures and discussions, etc. ) URL: http://www.archaeologicalmuseumplovdiv.org

  8. Completed projects І. Electronic Library system • E-Lib, software product CDS/ISIS micro for Windows, constructed on modulus principle. A format for information exchange ISO-2709

  9. ІІ. Electronic systems “Archives” and“Documentation” • Software АВ, corresponds to the format MARC 21 and other international formats for exchange of bibliographic information • The basic structure in three sections: • Categories • Processing (recording, editing and searching) • Security and Maintenance • Text descriptions and photos ІІІ. Electronic passports of 15 000 artifacts

  10. Futureprojects І. Integrating the electronic passports of the artifacts in a data base for processing of archaeological funds • The Museum has a server with adequate storage capacities: • QUAD Processor • 4GBRAM, 2 TB disk space ІІ. Developing and printing of a representative catalogue with the exhibits in the permanent exposition ІIІ. Digitalizing the photo collections
