INTRODUCTION TO DEMANTIA Dematiais a general term used for progressive loss of brain function that affect the ability to live and increase dependence Dematia is not part of normal ageing Dematia causes memory loss It affects thinking, speaking and making decisions It interfere with the ability to perform normal activities of daily living (shopping, handling finances, driving, personal hygiene) Person start behaving differently (includes insomnia, wandering, apathy, and aggression) In its final stages, dementia makes the patient fully dependent

  3. SYMPTOMS OF DEMANTIA Most common signs of dementia include: Difficulty in communication or searching words Memory Loss Unable to complete tasks Inability to do planning and organizing Getting lost or issues with disorientation Behavioural changes Hallucinations Inability to reason

  5. CAUSES OF DEMANTIA When an individual suffers from dementia, his/her nerve cells in the brain get damaged. Dementia affects people differently depending upon the affected area in the brain.
