WHAT ARE THE WEB CHALLENGES in France ? « The Web Challenges, an original concept created and developed in France » • A national e-learning competitive game for French schoolchildren, high school pupils and students. • To learn how to get the best access of the educational properties of the Internet and how to maximize its resources. • To share some ethical, modern and positive values. • To build a team spirit and a climate of cohesion.   5. 1.3 WHAT ARE THE WEB CHALLENGES in France ? « The Web Challenges, a rich educational content » • A competitive game of knowledge which takes place on the Internet in three steps : 1 – Some qualifications online inside the French Schools, High Schools and Colleges. 2 – Some local finals in well-known places of the French Regions 3 – The National final inside the Amphitheater of the French Senate. • Some questions of general culture validated by the French Ministry of Education, which are about 5 themes : • History and Heritage • Economy and Society • Sciences and Technology • Environment and Urbanism • Art and Culture Europe Web Challenges 2006

  7. 1.5 WHAT ARE THE WEB CHALLENGES in France ? «  The Web Challenges, a team work » • The young people subscribe with a team of three on the Website www.defisdunet.com • For four weeks, during the tests and qualifications, they go online on top educational websites in order to find the answers to the questions they were asked. • At the end of those qualifications the best 10 teams of each regions qualify for the local final game. • Then the winning teams of the local finals participate in the national Final game at the Senate in Paris.   9. 2.1 THE RESULTS OF THE WEB CHALLENGES in France The Web Challenges inside the semicircle of the Senate with the participation of Jean-François Lamour, Minister of Youth, Sports et associative life and Nelly Ollin, Delegated Minister for the struggle against precarity and exclusion. THE WEB CHALLENGES EUROPE • One of the main objectives of Europe is : • To become the most competitive economy in the world based on knowledge. • To enhance, develop and control the new technologies. • The major challenges to go through are : • To overcome the situation that some european countries are slow to use the new information and communication technologies • To increase the dialogue between cultures in order to integrate the diversity of the European cultural treasures. • To generate a common base of all the European knowledges. « An ideal operation devoted to the promotion of the European Information Society Europe Web Challenges 2006

  12. 4.1 THE WEB CHALLENGES EUROPE « An original concept to have a better understanding of Europe, its Institutions and the Europeans. » • This game will be focused on 5 themes : • History and Heritage • Economy and Society • Science and Technology • Environment and Urbanism • Art and Culture • It will be composed of two major parts : • One is going to be devoted to some questions about Europe, its institutions, functioning and history. • The other one is going to afford to promote a better understanding of the Europeans own traditions and customs, their history and cultures. THE PROGRESS OF THE WEB CHALLENGES EUROPE « Some qualifications online and a final in one of the most prestigious places in Europe » • Some qualifications online for the 25 European member countries : • The participants join online and answer some multiple choice questions. • Then they will have more than 4 to 6 weeks to answer the questions. • A final in one of the two capitals of the European Union at Bruxelles or Strasbourg: • The best team in each country is selected for the European final. • This final is going to be honoured by the presence of the European Commissioners and deputies. COMMUNICATION PLANNING « Huge directmedia and institutional marketing campaigns » • Organisation of huge direct communication campaigns all over the 25th countries of the Union, • Billposting in every high school, college and university in Europe • Handout distributions. • Organisation of media campaigns: • Press release presentation of Web Challenges Europe • Adverstising in the national newspapers • Interviewsand articles in national newspapers • TV slots and interviews on the European and national channels (Euronews, Arte, TV5) • Organisation of institutional campaigns : • articles in the State members • articles in the European Union Europe Web Challenges 2006
