  5. 1.1 What is the Planner? © Queen’s Printer for Ontario, 2002 The Ontario Curriculum Unit Planner is a software application and resource library on CD-ROM – installed on Windows and Macintosh computers – designed to help teachers implement the Ontario curriculum.

The common Planner CD-ROM allows teachers to • install the Planner application on their personal and school computers • create units and profiles in a consistent format.

  17. 1.4 What are the new features of the Official Version 3.0? © Queen’s Printer for Ontario, 2002 Version 3.0 replaces all previous versions of the Planner and includes the following new features: • revised prompt text; • filtered and Boolean searching; • all Ontario expectations (including Interdisciplinary Studies, transfer courses, French Immersion, ExtendedNative Languages); • flexibility in ordering subtasks; • complete revision of Teacher Companions; • new rubrics and layouts for tasks in provincial exemplars; • AppleWorks 6.2 • preview/print holding tank of expectations for pre-planning; • easier and faster import using CD and web indexes;

Complimentary copies are distributed by Ontario Education Software Service (O.E.S.S.) representatives to every publicly-funded school (for teachers) and faculty of education (for faculty of education staff and labs) • 2. A complimentary run-time version is sent to each pre-service teacher in Ontario. • 3. A cost-recovery run-time version is available to independent schools and other organizations. • See www.ocup.org for more details

Move between the two pages using the tabs at the top. Add data with the “+” symbol and fill in the text fields. Consult guides on the Planner CD-ROM and the website that help design and assess an effective unit.
