  4. 1 Know your local situation(and advocate)

  5. We have 270 public libraries in this state trying to teach everyone how to use computers.

  6. 2 Form partnerships with other local folks (long term and short term solutions)

  7. Who should we be working with?

  8. 3 Don't reinvent the wheel(steal one)

  9. What are other people doing that works? Can we do that?

  10. 4 Identify, promote & create good design(don't make it harder)

  11. How does our digital content look? Can people really use it?

  12. 5 Solve the real problem (for real people)

  13. The Training • Objectives - clear, attainable • Outlines - stick to them, allow more time than you think you need • Exercises - practice muscle memory • Vocabulary - any word they don't know • See Also - books/pamphlets for more info?

  14. The Troubleshoot • "Explain the problem in your own words." • "What were you doing when this happened?" • "What were you trying to do?" • "What were you expecting to happen?"

  15. Process of Elimination • Hardware problem • Software problem • "Wetware" problem (PEBKAC) • Gremlins * • * no such thing, but sometimes a reboot helps...

  16. Are we solving people’s real problems? Are we helping?
