  1. Importing your Class Roster into Excel Right click to download the Powerpoint file to print.

  2. Introduction The Excel Gradebook File program will create a tab-delimited file that you may open in Excel, Quattro, or a database program.

  3. Opening a Browser Click Start, Programs, SHSU Programs, Browsers, Netscape Communicator and Netscape Communicator 4.6.

  4. Sam Houston Home Page Point your browser to http://www.shsu.edu

  5. Opening the Faculty Page Click on Faculty

  6. The Faculty Page and the Administrative Button Click on the Administrative Menu link.

  7. The Administrative Menu On the Administrative Menu, choose the Class Info Option

  8. The Class Info Menu On the Class Info Menu, choose the Excel Gradebook File Option

  9. Login Screen • Enter your Social Security Number without dashes. • Enter your PIN. • Enter the semester and year you wish to get the gradebook file for. • Click Submit. 1 2 3 3 4

  10. Choose the course to create file for. • Choose the course you wish to generate the Gradebook file for using the bubbles to the left of the CID. • Choose the items you would like to be included in the file. • Click Submit. 1 2 3

  11. Confirmation Screen The file has now been sent to you via email.

  12. Open your E-mail client To use Outlook: Click Start, Programs, SHSU Programs, Office Suites, Microsoft Office 2000, Outlook 2000. To install Outlook: Click Start, Programs, SHSU Programs Installation Menu, Office Suites, Microsoft Office 2000 To use another e-mail client: Open the e-mail client of your choice and save the attachment included in the e-mail you received. The instructions regarding Outlook may not apply to you.

  13. Open E-mail message Using Outlook, double click on the message for Excel Gradebook File. Double Click

  14. Save attachment Double click on the attachment. Choose “Save it to disk” and click OK. Double click

  15. Save attachment Choose the location you wish to save the file to. For example S:/Excel2000 and click Save.

  16. If You Do Not Have Excel Installed: • Click on Start • Move the arrow to: • Programs • SHSU Programs Installation Menu • Office Suites • Microsoft Office 2000 • When the program is through installing, click OK If you already have Microsoft Office 2000 installed, open the Excel program.

  17. Open the attachment Click on File and move the arrow down to Open and click the mouse.

  18. Open the attachment Change to the directory you saved the file in, Excel2000 for example. Click on the file and make sure that the Files of type is set to All Files. Click Open.

  19. Text Import Wizard The file you are exporting will be in .txt format. This will bring up the Text Import Wizard window. Verify that the “Delimited” option is selected. Click on Finish to change the file.

  20. Import Wizard Complete The class roster is now formatted in Excel.
