  1. Torture and execution By Paris Perry 4 points

  2. Exposure • Exposure is a method were the victim would be stripped of all his or her clothing and buried in the ground up to their neck letting any animals, insects or people kill them slowly.

  3. Foot roasting • The victims feet were restrained in stocks and then red-hot coal was placed right under their feet. This torture was mainly used to retrieve information. • The torturing would continued until the victims feet were burnt to the bone but if the victim continued to not confess then they would go onto other tortures.

  4. The pillory torture • The pillory didn't’t last more than a few hours, but it sometimes went on for days. • Pillory torture was a mild cause of torture. The pillory torture was used to publicly humiliate victim. In many cases the crowd threw vegetables and other harmless objects at the victim but when the victim committed a serious offense they threw stones and other heavy and hard objects. • The crowd often humiliated the victim by cutting his hair or putting marks on his body and more.

  5. The brank • The brank was a metal cage or mask that enclosed the head, they sometime had spikes that would hurt the victim when they spoke. Sometimes the brank had a bell attached to it so it would ring and announce the presence of the victim who was mocked and mad fun of by the people they gossiped about. • The brank was used to humiliate women who had been caught gossiping with their neighbors for no other reason than to offend or lie about. • The brank could be kept on for a few hours to month and in some extreme cases they could be left on until they died.

  6. Thumb screw • This device was usually used to retrieve information or confession from the victim. • The victims thumbs were placed inside the torture device and were slowly crushed as the torturer slowly turned the handle on top. • It was sometimes used on toes.
