  2. Overview • SDMX in FAO • Dealing with Registries • Generic Dataset based on the catch DSD • Capture Concept Scheme • Unit Codelist • Eurostat KeyFamily • FAO KeyFamily • Comparison Keyfamilies • DSD Gen-Spec model • FAO Major Area analysis and SDMX design Capture Data Structure Definition

  3. SDMX work done in FAO • FAO/FI and D4Science created • www.fao.org/figis/sdmx (Registry & Repository) • http://sourceforge.net/p/opensdmx/home/ (SDMX software collaboration platform) • Then there are three other SDMX related projects running: • Statistical Working System - FAOSTAT • TechCDR (on OpenSDMX) data.fao.org - CIO • CountryStat (PCAxis & SDMX) Capture Data Structure Definition

  4. Dealing with Registries, federal, central • Eurostat tends towards heaving a central Registry model because of the central (Eurostat) and decentral (NSI’s) context. • FAO tends to go for a federal Registry model because its divers context (FAO departments, Fishery bodies, Countries, Region, Subregion). • SDMX can learn from OGC standards and implementations. Example is the CSW standard implemented in Geonetwork. The CSW knows the concept of harvesting from other so called ‘Catalogs’. • OpenSDMX may implement the concept of LifeLinkAdapter: Each Registry can link with other Registries and use/show SDMX artefacts from other Registries like they were its own.
