  4. Hall application (2012/2013) ‧Continuing UG students Application : 12-25 March Result : 19 April Acceptance : 19-23 April

  5. Hall Application (2012/2013)……cont’d ‧New UG students Application : 1-5 August (3-year curriculum) : 20-24 August (4-year curriculum) Result : 31 August Acceptance : 31 August - 3 September

  6. Allocation of Hall Places • New students to stay on-campus to facilitate their transition into university education • Students admitted through special academic programs eg. Early Admission Scheme • Students holding specific positions in student organizations • Non-local students in their second year of study and Exchange-in students • Residence Master’s Discretion

Allocation of Hall Places ……cont’d • Persons holding the following posts in the current year: • - The president, Internal Vice-President, External Vice-President and • Financial Secretary of Students’ Union • - Editor-in-chief of Editorial Board of Students’ Union • - The Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Secretary of Students’ Union • Council • - Ten Executive Committees members from each House Students’ Association • nominated by the respective House Students’ Association and approved by • Hall Selection Committee

  8. Allocation of Hall and HKAC Places • Applicants assessed by the composite point system i.e. • - Non-local students in their 3rd / 4th year of study • - Local students in their 2nd / 3rd / 4th year of study

  9. Composite Point System • Home Distance from HKUST (maximum : 50 points) • Contribution to Campus Life (maximum : 35 points) • Outstanding Performance (maximum : 15 points) In view of the keen competition, the cut-off is likely to be over 50 points

Allocation of places in HKAC • All continuing UG students can opt for HKAC in their hall application • Those who have opted HKAC and who have a housing offer will be arranged to stay in HKAC • Remaining HKAC places to be allocated : • - Higher composite scores, higher priority for on-campus student • housing; or • - Higher composite scores, higher priority for HKAC; or • - All above the cut-off point to be offered both on-campus student • housing and HKAC by draw
