  3. The Artist: Mika Mendes • Launching his 4th Album, written and produced by himself • Has had many hits with several collaboration, duos and tracks featuring on other albums. He has become one of the best known name in his genre of music. His latest single, released from his 4th Album is already getting raving reviews. • This will be his 1st concert in the UK launching his 4th album • Originally from Cap Verde, he sings in English, Portuguese, French and Creole. • He has a fan base that covers African, French Caribbean, Francophones, Portuguese speakers as well as all across Europe who are currently learning and dancing Kizomba • Despite having come many time to the UK to perform, this is will be his first fully fledged concert, in a purposed-built Concert hall. The Concert • Doors open at 10pm and close at 4am • Will feature warm-up acts, Concert by Mika Mendes performing songs from his new album and his older hits, and DJ Sets/Club • Will feature UK based Portuguese and African Speaking singers to open the show. • Will be co-presented by Liliana Martins (Cap Verdean) and DJ Edu (BBC 1xtra- tbc) • DJs: DJB (Angolan), DJ Edu (BBC 1xtra- tbc) and more TBC • This event will be the first of its kind for its quality and being put together in Central London Mika Mendes Concert – 28th May 2011

Our audience • Our audiences are multicultural cosmopolite Londoners aged between 25 and 45 years old with disposable income. • We have over 50 nationalities represented in our events with an equal ratio of both male and female attendance. • A significant majority are British from various background, African, Francophone and from Portuguese speaking communities. • Many are well travelled, educated and professional with an interest in music, dance and cultures, either because it is their background (Portuguese Speaking Communities) or they have discovered a passion for it. MD Entertainments / Marie Doyen • MD Entertainment was created in 2007 by Marie Doyen after her first trip to Lisbon brought her to promote the first Africadancar, an international congress of Kizomba & African dances, to her fellow Kizomba dance Class students. She enjoyed so much being able to bring together her natural talents for organisation, networking and promotion with her languages skills while being involved in the music and dances she loves that she decided to continue with similar travels and cultural promotion work in the UK. • Marie, originally from France, studied business, languages and post graduated in Internal Audit. Currently based in London, she has contributed significantly to the promotion of Kizomba in the UK and overseas. • She is behind the GB Kizomba Competition for the last 4 years, organising eliminations throughout the UK and taking the winners to compete at the Championship International of Kizomba in Lisbon. • In May 2008, she started her own events in London offering a night where all could enjoy Kizomba and other African music in a friendly and welcoming club with a relaxed party atmosphere. This has become a trademark of the club nights she organises, welcoming all to great music in nice surroundings. • She is very active in supporting and promoting Kizomba has she experienced it, undiluted, true to its Angolan roots but welcoming everyone. A belief and principle she applies to each of her project: providing quality and authenticity, respecting the cultures she embrace, promoting new talents and giving quality to her customers. • She works with professionally qualified dance teachers and DJs as well as a number of Artists from all backgrounds • Projects and events she is currently involved in are • Sunday Afro-Matinee/ What Sundays Where Made For: Sunday weekly dance class and clu, has been running since Dec 2009, now based in the state of the art new stylish venue El Penol. Attracts over 150 people weekly on Sundays. • Promotes and assist the organisation of weekenders and short break abroad based around dancing and music. Has had over 300 people travelling via MD Entertainments to event in 2010 • She will be in charge of the show production (liaise with the artist), intro to art direction, marketing litterature (leaflet design),website event, liaising with presenter and venue and in general overviewing the project.   10. The team • Christelle Kedi Born and raised in Paris, from Cameroonian origin, Christelle, a qualified make up artist and fashion stylist, has studied at London College of Fashion. Her work focuses on media assignments and her client range includes magazines such as (National Geographic Green, New African Woman, Divascribe, Body Beautiful or The Voice to name a few). She is currently the fashion writer for Knowledge Fountain and the beauty/style editor for Tropics Mag.  During her spare time, Christelle enjoys going to cinema, reading, pampering and attending exhibitions especially those related to fashion and African art. The Team Cont • DJB Angolan, DJB has been DJing in the UK and Portugal since 1998 and has played in places such as Club Luanda (Lisbon) and in London to VIP, Don Cubas, Jet7, EQ, Saki Bar, Bar da Liga, Fiesta Bar, Britania, Babalou, Stratford Rex as well as playing sets in Manchester, Birmingham and Sheffield on a regular basis.
