Attendance • Tardy bell rings at 8:20 • Monday dismissal at 1:30 • Tuesday-Friday dismissal at 2:50 • Please make all attempts possible to schedule vacations and doctor appointments during non-school hours! • Students are required to make up all work missed during absences. • Students are in charge of finding out missed work. • Students may check for work in the Absent Binder.

  5. Academics-Continued • Science • 30+ labs per year • $15.00 lab donation • Cash only please

Academics-Continued • Accelerated Reader (AR) • 3 or 6 week grading period • Individualized goals/points • Students test within ZPD • Test below ZPD is no credit • Test above ZPD with teacher approval only • Fail 2 tests within grading period can’t test again until next grading period (70% passing) • Must sign up to take tests • Must read nonfiction books too

Donations • Please refer to our classroom wish cards (on the wall) • Suggested items: Baby wipes Stop Watches Tissues Clorox Wipes Copy paper Grab Box Prizes (gift cards, supplies, stickers, etc) *See packet for additional items • We also have volunteer opportunities available on clip boards. Please keep an eye out for jobs in our newsletter. • Parent Club Pledge Sheet

  9. Science Camp • September 29-October 3, 2014 • Jones Gulch in Pescadero, CA • Mrs. Brown/Delucchi and Mr. Quintana attending • New students may still attend • Forms due September 2nd • $295.00 per child • Cash or Money Order only: Due September 2nd!

  10. Grading • Late assignments are NOT accepted • RED circles in agenda = missed assignment • Homework/Class work = 60% • Tests/Quizzes = 40% • Exception: Reading (AR 20%, HW/Class work = 50%, Tests/Quizzes = 30%)

  11. Student Guidelines • TRIBES: Appreciation/No Put-Downs, Right to Pass/Right to Participate, Attentive Listening, Mutual Respect • CHARACTER COUNTS: trustworthiness, respect, citizenship, caring, responsibility, fairness

  12. Lanyards @ GKE • All students (6th-8th grade) are required to wear at GKE lanyard with student ID • $3 to replace lost lanyard • Consequences: • 1st: warning • 2nd: detention • 3rd: Friday School • -4th: Suspension

  13. Supplies • Required by Monday, August 18th • 7 spiral notebooks • Glue sticks • Pencils • Loose leaf binder paper • Agenda ($10.00-cash by Friday, August 15th) • Cover books by Monday, August 18th
