  3. scuttle • Definition: a short, hurried run; to scurry • Sentence: The rabbit scuttled away when we got close.

  4. sobriquet • Definition: a nickname • Sentence: She received a new sobriquet at camp when the campers couldn’t pronounce her last name.

  5. trajectory • Definition: the curved path of an object thrown into space • Sentence: The trajectory of the rocket headed straight for the target.

  6. hunkering • Definition: to lumber along; walk or move slowly and aimlessly • Sentence: Bigfoot was sighted hunkering through the woods.

  7. postulate • Definition: to hypothesize, to claim the existence of something • Sentence: Galileo postulated that the Earth was round.

  8. Deficiency • Definition: incompleteness, a lack of something • Sentence: There was a Vitamin C deficiency in his diet.

  9. converging • Definition: coming together from different directions so as to eventually meet • Sentence: The families were converging when they got married.

  10. evasive • Definition: Tending or trying to avoid (trouble or difficulties) • Sentence: When asked where he was during the crime, the suspect was evasive with his answers.

  11. demeanor • Definition: conduct or behavior • Sentence: She had a cheery and friendly demeanor.

  12. depleted • Definition: supply is used up • Sentence: The video gamer’s number of lives has been depleted.

  13. quest • Definition: an adventure or expedition • Sentence: Bilbo Baggins embarked on an exciting quest in The Hobbit.

  14. invincible • Definition: incapable of being conquered or defeated • Sentence: Having survived cancer, she felt invincible.

  15. expel • Definition: To force to leave or banish • Sentence: He was expelled from school after starting a fight with another student.

  16. archetype • Definition: A character, situation, or symbol that is familiar to people from all cultures because it occurs frequently in literature, myth, religion, or folklore. • Sentence: The hero and his journey are archetypes included in many stories and movies.
