  2. Welcome to Testing • Counts for A THIRD of your score • Last year • Super important to do well • Must score at least a 70 to qualify for State/Nats • Consists of 100 MC test • Four categories: Marketing, Management, Hospitality and Tourism, and Finance

  3. General Testing tips • 1. PRACTICE • There is no substitute • ProProfs/Quizlet • WE ARE A RESOURCE  2. Context • Know the category that you want to be in • Research a little • Print out relevant articles/look up examples of your category - familiarize yourself with jargon

  4. More general testing tips, nuggets • Go Back and Correct • Once you finish, go back and write down ones you missed/read explanations • Lots of repeats so be familiar with questions • Always a good idea to RETAKE tests 4. DON’T OVERTHINK • Clements Kids. • Don’t psych yourself out • Context clues/logic

  5. 3 steps to tackling a question

  6. Example numerouno Going through the steps: Analyze – “potential ethical issue”, “distribution channel” Strike – we can strike out B and D since they do not include ethical conflicts. C may be an answer choice except (and as you learn more of business vocab this will be easier) there isn’t a conflict among distribution channels. Only likely choice is A and that’s probably the one that stood out to you first Reflect – yes this makes sense, ethical conflict apparent

  7. EXAMPLE NUMERO DOS • Analyze - “businesses affected”, “social factors” • Strike – A and D don’t make sense in context. C takes into account social factors but B sounds the most reasonable. A business is dependent upon supply and demand and demand can be altered by social factors making B the BEST answer choice. • Reflect – yes makes sense, without demand for product a business can collapse or increased demand positively affects business

  8. Example numerotres Y CUATRO

  9. Additional tips and tidbits • Make sure to answer all your questions, ¼ chance of getting it right • Skip over ones you don’t know and come back to them • Pace yourself.
